Good morning.
I'm currently a student of computer science. Naturally programming is a heavy aspect of this and probably the part of computer science that attracted me to this course.
I'm a rather heavy forum user due to my intrests poker. Through forums I have learnt everything I know on it and currently use poker as my primary source of income.
If it works for poker it should work for programming. At present I will be one of the low postcount noobs who ask stupid questions I am so used to at the poker forums I participate in. All I can say is hopefully over the next few years I may get to the point were I can give back to the community.
Hopefully I'll see you all in the threads I will no doubt post complaning that "Hello World" isn't compiling.:)

Java.
Although I've only known it for around a year.
I taught myself to do a few basic programs using only one class. Suddenly for my Uni assignments they want to do this little thing they call "object oriented programming" and its what I thought I knew about java has come crashing down around me:P
I'm also learning assembly code.

Welcome to the forum Deco :)
If he's playing for a living, my guess is he's playing
the people and their personalities, nothing to do with math.

Sadly like chess I do worry the will come a day when you lot (the programmers:p) will make a program capable of beating human players.
At limit holdem this has already been achieved with polaris and simple bots for short stacked poker can be put against poor human opponents at the lower stakes to profitably make money.
It's early days yet as unless your playing limit or have a very small stack maths is simply not a big enough factor of the game for programs to dominate and hand reading based on your opponents tendencies is the key skill in poker. However even this I think "bots" will achieve in the near future as most serious poker players use databases to keep track of an opponents stats which are then relayed to our table. I cannot see a bot being able to read and manipulate these stats to play winning deep stack poker being out of the question.
But ye I best shutup and not give you all any ideas lol :P
