Hello All,

I have a friend who has an assignment to do in C for the LINUX platform and is experiencing some difficulties since they've never done C before. My friend is also swamped with midterms so I am trying to help by researching the problem.

Can someone explain please how you go about doing the following or where I can find more information for it:

1. Creating a shared memory segment with a parent and child, so that when the child is called it erases the string of text that was in the parent? The parent has to set up the environment before the child starts and clean it up when the child ends.

2. Also, how should the following calls be used: shmget, shmat, shmdt, and shmctl.
