Hi guys and gals (hopefully :P)

Just wanted to drop by and find out some info. I am a college student that has a free semester to learn a few programming languages. I am looking into either java or c++. Seems like java is the easy route to learn the basics and then c++ will refine my skills. Feel free argue against that, im not very knowledgeable on the subject. I am however looking for a few books on both topics, "Head first into Java" and "C++ for dummies" are two books that seem to be the very helpful. Will take suggestions on other books if those are not preferred.

Thanks!

Both Java and C++ are great languages to learn, and if you were going to pick one to start with, it's better to be Java. However, you should know, both of these languages can be challenging in their own ways!

Welcome to CodeCall! Java and C++ are both excellent choices to start with.

Welcome aboard!

Java and C++ are equally advanced languages. They appear superficially similar, but have several technical differences that can make switching between them "interesting".
Programming is a branch of mathematics.
