Hello Code Call community, I would like to start by saying thanks for allowing me to be part of such a great community, and i am looking forward to being a part of it.

Now onto more serious matters. So i have been learning C++ (by reading a book) for a while on and off due to the lack of motivation caused by learning things that i dont really know how to apply to games or things of my personal interest (not that making a pet application that would use a friend class to rename a pet isn't dandy) but I am looking for something more and I am hoping some experience users in the language would help me out or mentor me, point me on the right direction, answer questions I come up with or help when i run into a wall (and so on), I am not asking to be spoon fed since i know how anoying it can be giving away things that you dreadfully worked on to learn- and trust me i am feeling the dread.

Anyways, my email is: "a_y_n@live.com"
So feel free to add me or help me out through the forums (via pms, and reponses to threads i may make) or your method of choice.

This should be posted in the introductions forum, but let me answer you.

Yeah, as someone who also wants to go into game making, I realize how annoying it can be not getting into the game right now, but the first things you've got to do is establish a basis of understanding the language itself. Making a game is little more than making any other program, they're precisely the same to the computer, just the user experience is different. So you will use all of the language constructs you learn before making games while making games, thus you must learn all of them! The game making part comes after, and honestly requires you to not just know the language, but be pretty comfortable using it!

I don't see what you mean. I don't know if I can speak for everyone on this, but most of us have come here because we wanted to help people learn how to program. So by all means, at least myself, would be more than willing to teach you what I've come across and what can help you. We may not all agree on methods of doing something, so that can get confusing (which you'll quickly come to realize there are usually a lot of ways to accomplish one task!), but I think we all have the best interest of the people who are struggling to learn these languages at heart.

I hope you stick around as long as you need to to learn the ins-and-outs of C++, then stay to help others do the same. :)
Wow I changed my sig!

Thanks Jordan & Zekke. It's good to be here. I'm still not sure of what I am gonna be doing (tough i am considering game making I am not necesary leaning towards it) for now I am satisfied in exploring new aspects of the language. I am gald to be a part of a community with members such as your selfs, and hope to better myself and help others in the process.

There is nothing more...
Renaming a pet is unbelievably difficult, you have to consider
personality, looks, attitude, etc... and make sure your program
doesn't crash or your pet will be nameless!! :crying:

Anyway, welcome to the forum :D
