How to combine computer science and electrical engineering?

My uncle is an electrical engineer for telecomunications. I am curious do you guys have some cool things to suggest me to combine my computer science with his electrical engineering stuff? I mean he has a workshop and lot of tools and what not. Maybe you can suggest me some simple projects ideas?
