I'm working on project in which I need to somehow read the incoming MIDI data from my Casio Electric piano through a Serial MIDI to USB cable into a text file or directly into MATLAB via USB.

I'm looking for a way to get the information to stream into a text file while the piano is being played.. ultimately I need a log of the notes being played, which I'm assuming is part of the MIDI information being sent to the PC.

If anyone has some ideas, they'd be appreciated.
