Depends where you go and what they need at the time. Even if you dont become a game programmer you can still become a programmer pretty easily. It also depends on how far your willing to move.

Tons of people hire programmers. Even non related to computer places hire programmers. Everybody needs a website or software to be maintained. Some companies wanted better more efficient programs to manage users, workers, volunteers, processes, events, etc. There is no telling what software somebody else might want or what company might hire you. You might even solicit to them. Go there tell them who you are what you do and tell them you might be able to help, look around see whats going down with paper etc and try to make them paperless or say you could develop such and such software which can increase productivity blah blah blah

possibilities are endless.

I don't know because I've never tried but I'd imagine it would be difficult unless the company is a start-up company. Larger companies would probably want a bit of experience in the field.

As Jordan mentioned, the major companies actually look for some people with experience. If you go to a local start-up gaming company, you should get a job fairly easily. I would spend a few years there and help them get off their feet. If you are good enough, the company might become very popular and you will be recognised for helping them.

Which then you will have a name in gaming industry which will help you a lot in getting into major companies.

Your welcome mate, I was looking at getting into this industry with either a BS, MS or pHD in Mathematics. It's very interesting, how much longer till you attend UNI?

Posted via CodeCall Mobile well at first it was just a love of video games and wanting to do anything in that industry. But i recently found out about programming and from what ive done so far its really enjoyable and gives you a deep sense of satisfaction. So why not kill 2 birds with one stone and get paid to do it. :)
