Hi everyone,

I'm new to programming and new to this forum.
I wonder if anyone is willing to assist me in my introduction to programming.
I just bought Sun's Official Java Programming Manual and am willing to create a program that suits my needs for home networking.

Are there any small, basic programs i can create to get familiar with Java?
I'd be glad if you suggested any :D
I thought I'd use Eclipse as a programming environment, if there are any better ones would you suggest them?

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome aboard. You may want to look at some of the Java tutorials here.
Programming is a branch of mathematics.

I use netbeans. And the best book for Java for me was Head First Java Edition 2.
