If you keep up-to-date with the latest tech news and read a lot of companies blogs you'll understand what is going on. If you want a summary, just check Technology like once a day.

I'm to bothered to explain so what are your thoughts? Who is Google up against, Microsoft or Apple? Are they all up against each other? Whose battling for what and who do you think will be the overall winner?

To me, I think Microsoft will hold it as it has for last 30 years since Bing is a real hit lately. Google, no need to explain them they are the Internet Giant, yet Microsoft is the Software Giant? Apple is in the mix of it all. With Google announcing their new OS to be released, Apple rumoured to release a Tablet PC and Mac OS X Snow Leopard while Microsoft just released Bing with Microsft 7 and Office 2010 to be released shortly. Apple rumoured to buy Twitter a few months back...

Who is going to take the title?

To me, I have no clue in the world. Someone is going to end up dominating but who? Don't post if you don't know what you are talking about please!! If you keep up-to-date with the latest tech news, go ahead :D

You have to look at the cash cow. Google's cash cow is searching. Any other product that Google makes is to compliment searching which is evident with all of their cloud products and this new OS supporting only a browser (which leads to.... searching! :) ).

Apple is Hardware and OS X.

MS is Windows and Office plus a million other little crappy products. Maybe xBox could be thrown in there (it isn't very crappy, IMO).

With that said, I don't think Mac or Google can outdo MS marketing. They are experts! They took a product with all kinds of flaws and made it #1. No other company in the world could claim that and no customer in the world would buy a broken piece of equipment and keep it, less that product is Windows.

In the end, I hope Apple will start selling their OS instead of just hardware+OS. Once that happens I believe Apple will have a good chance of defeating them. They missed their prime opportunity to do it while Vista was under such heavy scrutiny.

Of course, 97% of Google's revenue actually comes from the little text ads on the side of websites and their search. They make billions of dollars from that and the more they point their products towards that, the more money they are going to be generating for themselves.

As for Microsoft, quite suprinsly, most of their money is coming from Office. Many would think it was their OS, as I would, but it turns out it's Office. With the release of Office 2010 coming out, the more money they are going to be generating for themsevles. Which will most probably go to towards their online campaigns which they are sort of lacking in.

As for Apple, their main money maker would be coming from iTunes. When I say iTunes, I include the lot as in the App Store and the iTunes Store. With them just recently releasing the iPhone 3G S, that's going to be more money in their pocket. With the release of iPhone OS 3.0, means greater apps and an even better gaming platform in your pocket!! Of course not everyone is going to be giving away all these fantastic apps, you would have the ones that would sell it. With the increasingly amount of apps and iPhone/iPod Touch users out there, there is just going to more and more apps and more and more downloads. Which in turn is more money for Apple. This is a bit out of date but I remember Apple saying they had 30 million iPhone/iPod Touch users out there, this was a few months back alongside having over 30 million dollars banked!

Apple dominates the music market.
Apple dominates the smartphone market.
Microsoft dominates the OS market - Going down though.
Microsoft dominates the browser market - Going down too.
Microsoft dominates most of the software market too haha
Google dominates the web search market yet Bing is climbing.
Microsoft also seems to dominate the netbook OS market.

Amongst all that Google is poking their head in most of the markets around but doing online. As Apple, I don't know where Apple is heading but they have been competiting with Microsoft for years! They are slowly gaining market share in the OS section but so is Linux.

So each of them have their own little markets they are in but each of them are trying to get into them in their own little way. Like Google is trying to get into the OS market by building a OS based off a web browser.

Microsoft also seems to losing market share left, right and center in many markets. Will they be able to make up for it all or will the others catch up before it's too late?

In the OS world, MS will eventually fall. They are on a downhill decline and suck more ass every day. Some company somewhere, somehow will overtake them. Perhaps it will be Apple or more likely some company that rises out of the ashes such as Google did when it destroyed all of the stupid search engines (Yahoo, Altavista, etc).

From what I have seen and read about Windows 7, it's GREAT improvement from Vista. I must say I loved XP but I love OS X heaps more :)
The only real reason Google was able to dominate over all the other search engines was because of Page Rank. Just one feature was able to take over everything else!! Let's see what feature they can come up with for their OS that might be able to attempt to leave a dint in the OS market.

There is, it's getting even stronger now.

Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt, recently resigned off Apple's Board. Yahoo! finally accepting the partnership with Microsoft too...
