He didn't even make a valid counter point (John) so you just think this guy failz because he doesn't like a simplistic programming language?

Basic wasn't useless in it's day. I learned how to code and program writing theory on Basic.

I can't think of 1 program that was worth buying that came from basic. The code was **** and filled with gotos.

I'm not disagreeing with you but the usefulness of a language doesn't just come from hat has been made directly from it. It also includes the help it has given newbies as well as the ease of it to convey technical programing theories and terms. For instance, I wouldn't have known the difference between a for loop and a do...while loop with out it. My dad (my instructor) told me and tried to break it down and explain verbally but I wasn't getting it so he turned to the only language we had available at the time: Basic. With the hands on visual and actually working in the environment I was able to learn.

All that said, this is totally not the right forum to be discussing an old and out dated programming language. I vote this thread be locked and stashed.

Well... it didn't get locked and stashed lol. Looks like dude never came back to say why he hated PHP.

I'm reading a book about building database driven sites with PHP and MySQL and every night by the end of the night, I hate PHP. But it only comes after about an hour of loving it until I hit a road block. I close the book out, close all the windows and go to bed. The next day, I love PHP again. :)

He must have still been on day 1.
