Ok, my laptop is running hot. I knew thereviews said it ran hot but I din't expect it to be as bad as it gets. So I need to by a laptop cooler (don't know the actual name) I am looking at two at the moment. there is around a $20 diffrence. I want to know if there is much difrence in the preformance of the two. I could not care less about spending an extra $20 if it works better. However if they work about the same I will go with the cheaper.

Here are links to the two i am looking at:

for $20 - Micro Center - Pro Notebook Cool Pad

for $49.99 - Micro Center - Aluminum Super Quiet Notebook Cooler

The second one, the more expensive one, has MUCH larger fans. Look at the comparison there. The second one also shows the fan RPM but the first one does not which is curious to me. With the smaller fans the RPM would have to be about double to match the 2nd one.

How much money do you have to spend on this? I'd get the $49 one if you can but it also weights 2lbs, if you noticed.

If there is one thing I have learned in life, its you get what you pay for.

Lol, I used to use a cooling pad while idle the temps were cool. However when I started to game or watch HD/Blu-ray movies, the CPU hit to 85~97 degree celsius !!!
So I threw the cooling pad !
I bought this cooling pad...
Newegg.com - EVERCOOL Aluminum Notebook Cooling Pad Black Model NP-301-BK - Laptop Accessories

However, I was desperate to get decent temps while idling and running games and etc. SO I went through with undervolting !
Temps sank from 10 to 20 degree celsius !
Not only that my GPU is really neat, it only peaks to 56~65 degree celsius !

So these are my temps with and without a cooling pad !

Min value when idle, normal when browsing, music and coding.
Max value when gaming highest settings in Left 4 Dead :D

If you're using windows, and having an AMD CPU undervolting will be easy !
Here is what I have done !

Undervolting and testing performance

Process activity, I use these settings to not make the CPU throttle between too many settings !

You mean he should measure the idle temps and full load temps before cooling pad and then with cooling pad?

Sounds like a good idea.
