Hi everyone

i am new to this site and joined because i was looking for help. i just got accepted into a college course (BTEC National Award ICT) its primary focus is programming. although i really had to persuade the interviewer to let me in as i currently have no experience programming. he even said if i didn't impress him in the first couple of weeks he would drop me from the course.

he then went on to and told me to download C Sharp C# from microsoft ideally the 2004 version as that is what they use in the college. i have looked into this but i am so confused. i cant find a download called C Sharp. so do i download .net or visual C# from microsoft and learn C Sharp from that. he also told me the main thing we will learn in year 1 is console programs if that helps.

i am sure you are all wetting yourself with laughter thinking what a dumb ****** but thank you for any help i really do appreciate it

Welcome to the forum! C Sharp is C#. C# is how you write it, C Sharp is how you say it. There is no 2004 version. There is 2003, 2005, 2008 and soon 2010. Console applications are fairly easy. I suggest picking up a good book or reading some tutorials on the web.

thank you for all your reply's and thanks for clearing that up with the C Sharp is C# i do feel like a complete idiot now. anyway i will definitely start reading up on tutorials and look into buying some books. i will question him about there be no 2004 version in September when i start the course but for the time being i am just going to download the 2008 version and experiment with that.

once again thanks for the help i am sure i will have plenty more questions in the future.

Hi, welcome to CodeCall

What the hell is BTEC National Award ICT? I am attending a BTEC National Diploma in Computing... but an Award? What is that?
