Here is a little something I am working on. I am hoping to have a finished project with a fully functional solar system by the end of the month. It will have all of the following.

- All Spinning and Orbiting planets.
- Asteroid Belt, All planet moons and rings.
- Occasional asteroid collisions.
- The national space center and an orbiting satellite.
- The space shuttle flying around the solar system.

This is all expected to take a long while... But, this is everything I have now at the moment. I got the textures online everything else was created by scratch.

Good start, but depending on how realistic (don't know your target) the planets need work on the layering of the textures to show the atmosphere.

Example Earth

When you look you can see that it's not a sudden transition from the sold to space, but a gradient.

Now your textures might have this but with the screen shots shown, we can't see this.

Yea I have gotten a lot of suggestions about the textures. There are still a lot of things to look up and study before it is complete. But, yes I am shooting to make it as realistic as possible. Thanks for the suggestion and I will research more to find out how to make it more realistic.

I remember reading a tutorial on doing the earth.
The thing was layers. You use your basic texture for the land / water layer, but a secondary transparent sphere for the atmosphere. I don't recall the scaling difference between the two though.

FYI have you checked out NASA's blue Marble Maps ?

Thank you winged panther I really appreciate it. And no I have not checked out the NASA website for textures. If they have some I will surly +rep you for recommending there website. Because finding HD or good textures for anything these days is hard unless you have the money to buy it.
