i would like to know if cod 4 or any other modern game can be played on Linux? i just want to easily make a less memory footprint to make the games run smoother . thanks.

Does it work well in wine though? Most games I've ran through wine had one issue or another.

We'll i guess we'll have to see. Since pb is incompatible with wine, it can be easily renamed and it won't start but you can't play on most servers that have PB :(

PB is such a crybaby! Most of the time even in windows machines it really just yaps most of the time and it's very annoying. I just hope evenbalance.com would make better compatibility with Linux machines as well as modifications in windows versions.

You are right on that. Punkbuster announces even the miniscule things that a gamer doesn't need - It distracts gaming. Who the heck would be interested in a few lost packets if you are getting owned by the opposing team?
