Can anyone give me a quick guide on how to enable dual monitors in Linux?
I'm running gnome with Compiz Fusion.

I can enable dual monitors in my nVidia config. I think the command is nvidia-config in a console although I'm not entirely sure.

Same with me. I use the nVidia driver to enable dual screens although I have found some issues.

Isn't dual monitor a plug and play feature?

Well, you have to plug the cable in lol... But I think you have to configure it?
I did it once, with my laptop and PC monitor... I don't remember though.

That might depends from the video card and drivers..

You have to configure it in your Video Driver (Either nVidia or ATI). I'm not sure about ATI's ability to do it.

I think ATI cards do have the ability of using a dual monitor.

That is what I run it with. What Flavor is he using? Does he have any problems with the dual screens?

I tried to do this once when my good old friend XaNaX gave me my first good video card for my 512 MB Compaq with a Integrated video card that made my eyes bleed. I believe he gave me a Radeon 9600, if I remember correctly. I was running Ubuntu 7.10 and I never got the second monitor ( my TV ) to work.
