There is no such combatibility issues going on with Linux. You can install Linux in any machine and have great computing experience..

Driver support can be an issue.

you can practically install it in any computer just like windows. drivers are always available for linux so you got no problem looking the right drivers for your devices.

If you are talking x86 compatibility, you are screwed as some may not work with Wine. But if you just want Linux to work they why not.
