My friend says that it is pronounced "Lie-nux" but I argued it was "Leenux". Is there a right or wrong way to pronounce it?
How to say Linux?

"Linux" in IPA would be "lɪnʊks." An 'ɪ' is pronounced like the 'i' in "sit." And the 'ʊ' is pronounced like the 'u' in "put" or the "oo"s in "wood." So it would be pronounced somewhat like "li-nuks."

Your second spelling is correct - "Leenux" - which is actually how Linus Torvalds says it. I have audio files of him stating how it is said which I will upload later and provide a link.
