Ubuntu is a great Linux distribution to learn. It is very easy to use and should be adequate for a beginner. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

As long as you can get it to install and support for your hardware is available then this is an excellent first distro. However there are many reports amongst my online communities about it not supporting newer hardware, and I myself cannot get it to boot on my new laptop. However this laptop is sold in other countries with Ubuntu as the shipped OS.... so it really should work.

I can tell you that Ubuntu is a ton easier than trying to play with Zandros for the first time. I just about wanted to pick up my machine and throw it across the room. And the business version is not easier either, I think I will try and play around with it later this year (ubuntu that is) as a side project. If you have any tips, feel free to share!
