Do people even use OSs such as this and FreeBSD anymore? They seem archaic to me.

Solaris is used in a lot of corporate, government and education environments. Certainly Linux has made huge headway in the corporate world, but Solaris still has a firm footing. I think particularly the educational and government environments seem to favor solaris. At least, thats been my experience in working for both educational and gov't entities.

SUN has been swallowed by IBM, i wonder if it would change the OS, a great open source too.
