Anyone ever been hacked? I once hacked a friends Linux box because I new his password but I didn't do anything to it. It isn't really hacking I guess. Just curious to know if anyone has ever had an intruder in their system.

I've never had it hacked directly but I have had people hack cPanel and gain access to my server. From there, they defaced my website.

i had a linux gateway setup at home (well i still do, but new install), it was there for aprox 3-4 years, and then there was a massive amount of logins, i found out later why, there was a new distrobution that booted from cd that had the default password of "password" .. well guess what the system password was at the time :P

i just reinstalled the box from scratch, something like slackware 6->10, big upgrade :P

nar, it was only a linux gateway as well, so really nothing to harm, there was a few 1-2 min logins and that was it, as soon as i seen them, decided to reinstall =)
