I guess this should have been my first post really. Hope it isn't a problem that I answered someones question before doing this.
Anyway, I've signed up here as I'm looking to take programming more seriously. I'm self taught and I am currently learning python and trying to get re-acquainted with C#.
A few years ago I started to learn C++, but the book I was using didn't suit me and I gave up when trying to understand pointers and references. Not wanting to give up I started to learn C# using material off the internet. Most of what I learnt was to do with windows forms rather than the language though.
Due to other commitments (work and exams), I left programming behind. I've come back to it now as I have more free time and would (eventually) like to be able to do something useful with the knowledge and give something back to all the communities that I've made use of along the way.
Hopefully, I'll get up to speed again fairly quickly but I was never more than a beginner to start with.
I look forward to taking part on this forum.

Welcome to CodeCall Hignar. It's not necessary to post here even if it's recommended so don't worry about the other post, It's just good you help others. Good luck with the relearning.

Welcome to CodeCall! Will you be learning C# again, or C++?

I was going to relearn C#, but I'm not so sure at the moment. I don't really want to limit myself to windows development so I'm currently trying to decide if mono is good/up-to-date enough to really allow cross platform development with C#.
