Well, after a short break from CC, and programming in general, I thought it would ask the community how you organize your desktops, and HD's in general.

I guess I could start with a few screen shots.

My desktop usually looks like this,

and with icons on,

The two main folders are organized like this.

In the "Universal Folder" I have: Art, which contains all my Photoshop work. Games, which contains all the games I play, Music,... I think you all get the point.

Another way I keep my desktop neat/organized is with two small applications, Unlocker and Taskbar shuffler.

Unlocker - It was hard to find a picture of it happening however, when I first installed it I had a stubborn program that wouldn't let me erase the shortcut off my desktop. After I unlocked it, I could delete it at ease. Another time this program came in handy, was when I was editing a template. I decided I didn't like the template, closed Dreamweaver, and deleted the template, only to receive a message saying it was still open. I opened up task manager, however Dreamweaver.exe was not there. After unlocking it, I was again able to delete it.

Taskbar Shuffler - If you haven't noticed yet, I enjoy keeping my workspace clean. I have my taskbar on auto-hidden however I dont like having my taskbar cluttered. Taskbar shuffler, basically just lets you re organize your taskbar icons.

Unlocker - Download Unlocker 1.8.7 Free Trial - Get rid of error message like Error deleting file or folder, cannot delete folder: it's being used by another person or program - Softpedia

Taskbar Shuffler - home of the nerd cave - Taskbar Shuffle

Well CC, how do YOU organize your desktops?

Nice looking desktop/background!

My desktop just has shortcuts on it to installed programs. I keep all of my files on a NAS and they are replicated on a USB drive I have. On the NAS it goes like this:

Files ->
   Applications and Games
          Windows
          Mac
          Linux
          Games
   Backups
        Websites
        Projects
        Documents
        etc....
   Books
   Movies
   MP3
Pictures (these are also stored on flickr)
Scanned Documents (also stored on Zoho)
   Wedding Movies

Each dir has many more sub-dirs but I showed two levels there.

My NAS is organized similar to Jordan's structure.

Volume_1
    Audio Books
    EBooks
        PHP
        C++
        ...
    Videos
        Movies
        TV
    Music
    Software
        Windows
        Linux

My Computer Organization Algorithm:
All my files are located on my Desktop. Generally what happens is after a week or two my Desktop will be filled with files. They usually get placed in a very nondescript folder with one of the following names: "New Folder," "Misc," or "Crap." Numbers get appended to the end ("Crap2") until my desktop is full of nondescript folders. Which then all get placed in another nondescript folder creating a hierarchical structure. This process loops until I reinstall my operating system. When that happens, I make a folder called backup-dd-mm-yy and my Desktop goes in there. My backup gets thrown onto my NAS and I forget all about those files.

crap
    New Folder
    New Folder 2
    New Folder 3
    Misc
    www
    crap
    crap1
    New Text Document.txt
    asdf.txt
    php.php

I don't! I just place it according to windows (documents, pictures, downloads, etc). It does get confusing and messy like my room. :p
