For personal use, I don't want anything filtered. What are your intentions with it?

Some tech guy from a company just asked if I used it and said that my computer "hanging" a lot where the connection just stops is likely due to DNS issues and that openDNS may very well help a lot.

Does your computer hang when surfing the web? DNS would cause it to hang right when it does the lookup because DNS converts domain names (codecall.net) into IP addresses (192.168.0.1).

Sometimes. I read on some site also though that if your computer flat stops responding at all it can be a DNS issue also.
I've also had an extremely odd problem lately where on CERTAIN SITES my internet connection is ruined. It will not only stop working on the specific sites, but then all other sites wills top working also for a few minutes and then if I don't go back to the sites that caused it then it's fine and if I do go back to them it happens yet again.
A couple are forum sites. I have no clue what that issue could be. I thought it sounded like someone had control over my computer, but then it would not just be happening on specific sites, so who knows.

Odds are your hosts file is compromised (Spybot S&D does an excellent job 'fixing' it) or you have a virus on your machine. I've used OpenDNS before, and it performs fine, however the ads when you lookup a non-existing domain are annoying. It also takes longer for new domain changes to propagate since it uses a cache.

As far as virus, spybot, etc... I did a virus scan already and it turned up no viruses and I so sue spybot, but I haven't recently.
