In this tutorial attempt to get GuRu, I will be showing you how to do a Photoshop re-touch.

1. First find your picture of choice, I chose this one.

2. Load that picture into your version of Photoshop, I am using CS4.

3.First, delete the backround layer, and duplicate the first picture layer. Start working on the duplicated layer. Find the series of re-touch tools in photoshop. You may see somthing like this.

The hotkey for the tools is J.

4. Use the healing brush tools. One, functions like this. You click, and it samples around the area. The second, and more preferable one is the spot-healing brush tool. This tool allows you to sample an area, using ALT. Then you can paint over the skin.

5. After using these tools, my picture looked like this.

6. Now for the larger area's of the photograph, use the patch tool. It is located under the healing brush tools, and is the third selection. Make sure your options look like this.

Simply, make a selection, and drag the inside area, to a more clear area.

My picture now looks like this.

7. Here comes the most important step. First, create a duplicate layer, of the progress so far. Then select all, CNTL+A, and copy merged.

8. Now go to Blur -> Gaussian Blur. I decided that a blur of 9 looks good. But dont hit ok yet. Hit cancel.

9. Now to go Other -> High pass and set it to 9.

10. Now inverse the high pass, the short cut is CNTL+I.

11. Now you can add a Gaussian Blur of 1/3 the high pass, in this case 3.

12. Now set the blending mode on the layer to Soft Light.

13. Now my image looks like this.

14. If you wish, you can change the subjects eye color. Create a selection of the eye, and mess around with the hue and saturation.

Duplicate the layer, and drag it onto the other eye.

15. Congratulations! You have sucsefully retouched a photo. Here is my result.

EDIT: Apprentally, I didnt take a final picture , so that is one I did in a past time. I wrote the tutorial, based off that picture.
