My name's Jon, I used to be a hotshot (amongst my friends at least :)) in the eighties with programming the Commodore 64 in Assembly language. I never really carried on programming after that machine went the way of the Dinosaur, but keep an eye on technology, programming, games and graphics in general. I'm particularly interested in American developments of the seventies and eighties in computer graphics. If names like "Symbolics", "Super Paint", and "Genera" mean something to you then you have a friend! : )
I am interested in all sorts of languages and have touched Python, Ruby, C, C++, Java, Lisp, Smalltalk, PHP and HTML in my time.
Hello from a new oldbie! : )

Hey Jon, welcome to CodeCall! Which of those languages do you like best?

Welcome aboard! I remember playing with a C64 at a friend's house one time. The tape drives on those things were... slightly... slow.

Hello Winged Panther and Jordan! Boy, you're so quick on these boards. : )
In answer to the first question, after literally years of trawling through languages and code I can say with certainty that my favourite language is Lisp. The syntax is lovely and the methodology is excellent. If a little bit alien at first. You could say that as object orientation found it's way into C (In the form of C++) via Smalltalk it lost a little both times.
Yes, the tape drives on the Commodore were hellishly slow. It wasn't uncommon to wait fifteen minutes for a program to load. Back then though, we couldn't imagine having things any other way.
