A programming book that does not get technical and makes you sit there an wander if they are paid by the every word they put in it?

Well I have not seen such a book.

For the beginning stuff, I wouldn't think a book would be neccesary when you can use tutorials on sites like CodeCall or C programming.com - Your Resource for C and C++ Programming

For now you just need a book that will teach you the basics. Sam's Teach Yourself C++ in One Hour a Day does the job well.

No! There are a lot better beginner selections that Sam's. You can't get good in an hour a day. It takes lots of practice. There is no way you can get your mind around an entire chapter of a book in 1 hour.

is a lot better.

are both excellent, but not very good as beginner books. I would get the free book I referenced above, read through it, then move on to these two.
