Can anyone that is a software engineer give some insight on the ups and downs of the job.
I was looking at a couple of online schools to earn my degree. University of phoenix has a BSIT degree and then I also found American Sentinel which was very cheap and had Bachelor in computer science program.
I was leaning towards the BSIT path because it is an IT degree with a concentration in software engineering. If I decide that I don't wan't to be a software engineer after I begin working I can still go the IT route. Does this seem like good reasoning?
Interested in becoming a software engineer

Sure, I am not a software engineer but my coach is. He says he loves his job, and it is never boring. Engineer by day, coach by night.

That sounds very odd, actually. There's an AWFUL lot of stuff to learn about programming as it is, without trying to learn miscellaneous other IT stuff as well. I'm not sure how well respected University of Phoenix is, either. I've never heard of American Sentinel.
