I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts about these two college programs. My ultimate goal is to be making software or programming. I've narrowed it down to two choices, which one is better and why:

Can't insert links apparently, just google it I guess
[google / cambrian college - full-time programs programmer analyst]
[google / st.lawrence college programmer analyst] (2nd link, sublink to first)

Cambrian's program seems more interesting to me, but it's very far away, whereas st.Lawrence's program seems decent enough and it's much closer.

I notice that Lawrence seems to offer many COBOL oriented courses and visual basic...Not that I'm very experienced but aren't those a little dated? I'm leaning towards the Cambrian program because it looks more interesting and it offers many security/network oriented courses which I have an interest in. Also, I'm told that Cambrian offers several courses that use MOAC (Microsoft Official Curriculum) which is apparently good? Because their expensive to take elsewhere?

I know nobody can choose for me, but it sure helps to get opinions from more experienced people. Thanks for your time.

PS: I hope this is the right forum, if not please move it, and sorry.

Looking at the descriptions, it's not easy to answer the question. COBOL, C++, Java, and VB.NET are all used today. COBOL, in particular, is still driving many banks' systems.

My take on it is this: St. Lawrence seems to be more agnostic towards software/OS vendors, whereas Cambrian seems to be more Microsoft oriented. Which is better depends somewhat on what you want to do. I would see if you can interview some programmers in the area and see what they think of the two schools. Hiring graduates can give a real sense of clarity as to which schools are worth a darn.
Programming is a branch of mathematics.
