why not try making a small game using game maker for windows by Mark Overmars and Jacob Habgood (Apress L.P., 2560 Ninth street, Suite 219, Berkeley, CA 94710, USA) ? it is designed to be easy to learn and get results fast.. and the games are free to distribute..
