I am a high school senior, going to City College of New York.
I will go to the engineering school there.
I always have questions about the two majors

Computer Science vs. Computer Engineering

I read it, I also can tell the difference from the words

but can you guys, give me your own definition, and some experiences involving in these two majors?

i know BS is nothing because what you really need is Master lol

Short answer: do you want to study hardware or software?
Programming is a branch of mathematics.

That sounds like CS, not CE.

Computer Science would be mainly based on working on computers but also involves some hardware. Computer Engineer is just about all based upon working in the computers, such as hardware.

Sorry if I don't post as often as I did, I'll try to get here as much as possible! I'm working my bum off to get this scholarship and other stuff!

Since here in Sweden we can get CS + CE education, however the knowledge received will of course be limited !
I am aiming to CS or CE or even the CS + CE education when I leave Highschool... and jump into the University !

lol, i can see turk4n a great student in college, cuz he's code warrior, lol
jkjk

hmmm good for you turk4n,
but double major is really hard, especially you are doubling up two science courses
i think i would only take cs as major, minor in business

Computer Engineering is probably the way to go if you want to make it a life career. You'll learn the basics of circuitry and digital designs. You'll learn how to directly program a device you create using assembly (very handy later on) And usually dabbles in C. Learning languages later on is easy.

I advise: Take the computer engineering course. Then take a 2-year computer sciences course either at university or college. Involve yourself in open source projects (Makes a fun resumé) and try to get an internship with a local startup.

i don't know if i could do that
it's always a debate
i can see your ideas on either course is slightly different from others' replies.
i am not quite sure, but as a future coder, i know we need to think in both directions: software, and hardware
you have to know really well about what you need for your program, how to make sure they store these memories effecienly, and get them running.

i was invovled with this robotics competition, you can't code the robot without first have the design. you can't code without communicating with the building crew.
you can't debug without discuss with them
everything is like a team work
but if i dedice to go for cs, because it's more about programming app, would it make me less advantage in programing a decent program? i don't know. maybe?

but i see the two BS majors, students take almost 80% same coures
but there are some classes are different for each, in order to fill up the requrirement

i think master degree is more important in considering which direction of career you want to go with

open source community, i love it
