Hi,
I'm calling anybody whom has, installed, Adobe Dreamweaver CS4.
It's quite important as when I code, I use the 'Designer' workspace, and unfortunately it has corrupt somehow. I am needing somebody help to either post the code of 'Designer.xml' or upload/attach the .xml file please.
In order to find it, you must go to: C:\Users\*name*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\Workspace
I would greatly appreciate it.
Jordan.

Right now would be a fantastic time to get acquainted with the "Code" workspace. :) I would give you the xml file but I don't use DW.

The code is for xhtml / css strict, and I'm using a CMS which isn't either one. It's 10x easier to use Designer than Code as Designer has easy access to all the 'mini-programs' like table generators and such. :/ Also, I like the feel of Designer; it's not what the name would suggest.

I used Dreamweaver from version 7 when it was owned by Macromedia to version CS2 when it was owned by Adobe. I know very well what the Designer mode is like, and it severely hindered my ability to write decent code. I, and probably everyone who does not use a WYSIWYG, think it is is 10 times easier to simply type <table width="100%"><tr><td></td></table> than to fumble through the IDE to find the table button which gives a popup to enter the rows, columns, and table width, then you have to press ok.

Dreamweaver, and indeed any WYSIWIGs, are only for n00bs who do not know how to code HTML markup. To achieve fine control over layouts, there is no other option but to manually code. It gains you a better knowledge of how your website works, and makes it easier to customise it later.

For 'n00bs'. Not really, makes it a lot easier, and colour coded for easy viewing. To achieve fine control you need to do it manually? You've clearly never used or seen Dreamweaver because it's all manual. And tbh, have a simple popup where you type how many rows, and how many columns you want just save time.
I know HTML inside and out, I'd rather not waste time with typing everything. Also, I've seen you coding, you're hardly immense at html yourself, sir.
Any way, I didn't ask to be criticised, I asked for support. So, help or don't reply please.

I am only trying to help. Indeed I have used Dreamweaver many times in the past, and from my own experience I can say that WYSIWIGs give you less control over the website. Things like resetting CSS margins and paddings and complex PHP code can only achieved directly through code.
If you are only using the Code View in DW, you might as well use a normal code editor such as Notepad++, which has completely customisable syntax highlighting. As for the "easier" bit, I can't see how you have figured this. I hardly ever use tables, as layouts are far better with CSS and div constructs. Whenever I need to populate a table from a database or something similar, I write custom PHP that outputs the table.
I am not criticising, I am trying to help, by showing you how WYSIWIGs can only get you so far. I know pretty much every HTML tag there is, and pretty much every CSS property that can be set, and I still find it considerably preferable to manually code. If you are more comfortable working with a visual display of the page until you become confident enough to work entirely from code, then I am by no means stopping you. WYSWIGs are certainly easy to use, but if I want to get the degree of control out of my layouts that I need for precise websites (as opposed to a simple tabular layout with some navigation links and a logo at the top), then manual coding is the way to go.

j0rd4nn, I totally agree with you, and i have been trying to tell this to Xav for ages. Dreamweaver is faster, easier and simpler for everyone, not just newbs. And the fact that you know every html tag there is makes you sad.
I'm Dan and I'm new. I know Xav and I practically run his site for him.;)

Dreamweaver would be almost completely useless for most of what I do. Because 90% of the content on my pages is dynamically generated, I'm not going to be able to do anything but the most trivial layout.

It is a shame that DanTheMan can be so naive sometimes, eh? You ask any decent web coder here, and they will all tell you the same thing. There is really no comparison between a WYSIWIG and a manual editor like Notepad++. Dan, the fact that you prefer Dreamweaver is made up of two facts:
1) You have never used anything other than Dreamweaver.
2) You are a n00b.
I know both of these facts are true, because you go to my school and I see you every day. One big n00b lulz.

I'm sorry Xav, or rather, child, but you actually don't no me or what I design. I own a web design company, which have produced many, many sites. If you read my original ******* question, I said does anybody have it the xml file for design? and I get criticised for using a program that you don't use, more than likely because your too poor.
Using Notepad ++ doesn't mean your good, it means your arrogant and think your better than you really are. It really pisses me off when children, like yourself, act like your the a big man. I've been designing sites for the past 4 years, I know everything inside out. And yeah, I've coded Joomla, webspell, and many other PHP scripts. I don't give a **** what you think, and frankly couldn't care less you stopped breathing, and yes I am getting offensive. A child thinks I can only code a static page actually annoys me, thoroughly.
If you see your site, then seem the sites I code you'll see how terrible you truly are. Your youth is so misspent and you'll regret it once your older. I code pretty much for a living at the moment. Using a program to save time helps no matter what your name is. WYSIWIGs are not useless, you think what you say is fact? How come when you join any successful web design company they have Dreamweaver?
How exactly is Dreamweaver useless, I seriously struggle to see any relevance to anything you say. It's a program to design sites with, with multi purposes. Your a child.
Next time you reply, you reply with evidence, and how. Else, you can stfu and gtfo of the thread.
