When faced with a wall of errors and no hope to fix them, remember the following "Programs always do what you tell them to, and seldom what you want them to, but eventually you'll run out of things that can go wrong and it'll just work. and that's the secret to good programming."

I'm looking for suggestions on a little project that will allow a user to change the root password on an IBM AIX server and transfer the new root password to a Linux RedHat server. I want a convenient method of keeping my root passwords uniform across both servers. Any ideas on attacking this project would be appreciated. I'm not sure how different the /etc/passwd files are formatted between both OSs.
