I've been thinking about putting together a home-made home security system, but I've never done much with hardware programming.
The system would have switches that went to windows and doors (basically to see if they had been opened). The software would be able to track history of when windows and doors had been opened, as well as sound an alarm (play some sound file) if so desired.
I could probably handle the software side of things, but not sure even where to begin when it comes to the hardware. Has anyone ever worked on something like this?
Home security system

They have systems that already do this (software and hardware) with no subscription fees. Are you aware of that or are you looking to make your own?

Cool...thanks for the link.
I knew they had systems out there that did this...just think it would be cool to put something together myself.

Their are numerous different components, that could be implemented differently to be used in a project like this.
Could use a pressure sensor for windows. Or simply an IR REC/IMT .
Would be relatively straight forward.
If you would like I could work on a schematic for you.
The hard part is going to be the wiring, and making it look good.
