Mhm, how do you even determine if its a hot thread? The # of replies? the # of views? the # of linkbacks? the # of replies from unique users? A combination?

You have it posted as a project, have you completed any PHP work yet? Is this for Joomla 1.x or 1.5? I don't intend on doing work for 1.x any longer.
