I am in college for network specialist but when I get to the end I need to pick between to work towards a Microsoft Network Administator or a Linux/Unix Administrator. Which one is more popular in businesses?

I would pick Linux/Unix Administration because I prefer the OS. Both have ample jobs in the field and I'm not sure which pays higher. You should use both and decide which operating system you like best.

Are you asking the difference between Mac OS X (Leopard - Apple Corporation) and Windows or Linux/Unix and Windows?

LOL im sorry I meant Linux/Unix instead of Mac. Say after I get my degree I pick Linux/Unix Cert. When I get a job with linux/unix admin. I am afraid I would forget things with vista and microsoft even though I like microsoft better. So Should I get microsoft net admin cert since i like it better?.But I want the one thats more popular.

All three are different, with their own tools. Unfortunately, I can't give a meaningful recommendation as to which you should choose. Being able to manage a mixed environment would be a handy skill, though.
If you don't like what you're working with, you won't stick with it.

If you like Microsoft Better then go with it. As Winged usually suggests, go do a search on monster.com for your area and see which results in more jobs. I'm willing to bet you'll see more for Windows Administration.

^^ I agree with Jordan on that post.
But most servers and networks are starting to run off a Linux/Unix operating system. But like they said, choose which one is best for you and you like most.
Maybe go to UNI one day, learn it in one OS and slowly try to do it in Windows so you don't lose all your knowledge :)

No. Cisco is a different company that makes Routers. Cisco uses the Cisco IOS operating system on their routers and are the backbone of many major corporations. Cisco offers several certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, etc.

I've heard nothing of the two companies merging. The MS networking certification is no where near as good as the Cisco CCNA, IMO.
