Since I have been in college I have come prone to small break downs where I may cry uncontrollably or start screaming when my programs do not compile. It does not happen all the time but it does happen from time to time. I find they increase at final exam time or when I have a large paper due. They did not start until half way through my junior year of college. I know AOV (another member of this forum) has the same tendencies. My question is does every one go through this type of thing when in college or am I just going insane? Or is this part of becoming a programmer in general (praying to god the answer to that is no)? If this is just something typical to college students does anyone have any tips on how to avoid them?

I broke a keyboard when a big c++ didnt compile

The only time I get angry with a computer is when I get frustrated and that only happens when something doesn't work (or I don't know enough to make it work). I find that going back, reading and learning about what it is I am trying to do often helps me succeed.

I personally have an amazing (lack of) temper - I can quite happily sit for an hour on a single problem.

@ amrosama - Wow you broke the key board? must have been really mad. I don't drink but I think I will take the advice about the pop, hopefully it will work.

I am hopeing this was just a college thing if so it will be ending soon I only have a semester and a half left.

Well, you will face more complicated programming exceptions and compile errors but its totally worth it
i read that debugging takes double the time at coding

I've not often done that, I mean if the program does not compile it's more likely my own fault :$ I should just go over the code and find the error.. I sometimes get a bit grumpy when I struggle with complex stuff, though :D

Frustration and stress will do that to you. I got really frustrated the other day when i could load a blob into a database. The code had been working, but stopped when I switched databases... drove me BANANAS! I got it fixed eventually, but it is very frustrating when you are used to get answers with a quick Google Search and can't get anything to work.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.... but it's not particularly good sounding either.

Try some time management techniques perhaps? I don't know how you do things now, but planning things out with plenty of time can reduce stress.
