I am not to sure with JS but I know it has a fairly slow Javascript engine. It's worst feature is CSS, for more details visit the ACID3 test comparison chart.

The issue with JavaScript is pretty simple to explain: IE uses a different model for describing objects on a page, their relationship to each other, and the events that can occur. As a result, you'll see code like this for filtering keys:
var ie=document.all
var ns6=document.getElementById&&!document.all

var nav = window.Event ? true : false;
if (nav) {
  window.captureEvents(Event.KEYDOWN);
  window.onkeydown = NetscapeEventHandler_KeyDown;
} else {
  document.onkeydown = MicrosoftEventHandler_KeyDown;
}

this is just to get a single interface for the rest of your code to use.

IE was developed prior to web standards, and extended when the web standards were limited. 6 years ago I couldn't access my bank's website because it used VBscript and I was using RedHat. It would be nice if IE8 was actually standards compliant.

Yer VBscript only runs on Internet Explorer, maybe they want more people to come to their browser.

Vista !> XP

I don't understand what you are trying to say? I know XP was a nice OS... and Vista... was a little off the beaten track.

He is saying that Vista isn't as great as XP is. And I completely agree with him, XP is much faster.

Indeed, but like I said with the release of SP1 it isn't as bad anymore.

But on topic.

I think they should standardize or fix IE's problems ASAP!

I actually disagree - there are a few compatibility issues with Vista, and it can be quite demanding in terms of system requirements, but on the whole it is a decent OS in my opinion.
