In the UK it is .co.uk, our TLD.

well, per definition, .uk ist still the TLD, , then uk domain manager decided to be a little american and wanted their own gov, edu, and a few, so they added the co as in corporations for the "free" part, not in com as in commersial... some countries has followed the example, others has used .com.xx instead.. but most has not choosen to divide like this.

Sweden had until a few years ago, their pp.se which was for Private Persons, and there is a .tm.se for trademark sites. also, there was a set of sub domains for each region abbreviation (c-z, ab, bd and ac) for smaller local business and stuff..

But now we are allowed to register domains such as .google, .poo and .brandonw if we have enough dosh.

The company that manages the domains is going to start allowing people to buy those domains, for huge amounts of money.
