Hey C.C, I have now Installed windows vista 64 due to need for CS3 and Assembler and VB studies. But one main problem is I have forgotten what sound card I had when it was under linux and now I have no sound. So wondering how can I check out or find out my sound card drivers and etc.
P.S: it's a laptop :(
Need help with vista 64bit....

You can lookup the model at the vendor website and it should tell you what sound card is in it. Who makes your laptop?

Acer, did check and installed. Now the problem is still there mocking me. I can't hear anything. Am using Windows Vista 64 bit SP1 and no sound is coming out. Driver is now installed and I see the icon for the sound card and etc. However I can't hear anything !! :(

Was it the 64 bit driver for Windows Vista or the 32 bit version?

Did it install any additional software? Maybe you need to set it from there.

Hmm... I'm an expert at this:
Did you press the mute-button?
Do you have any speakers on your laptop?
Have you recently checked your hearing?
:D

1. I have not pressed the mute-button :)
2. I have speakers on my laptop but using headphones(tried both ways to check)
3. I hear excellent !(But my sight **** it's bad, due to injuring it when was a kid)
But now I have solved the problem and the problem was, in sp1 64bits edition there was a lot of people that had same problem. So i checked on "micro$hits" site for "solution" and the "right" solution came. I had to uninstall my "driver" and then install it again. So now it works perfectly. Thanks everyone for your efforts.
Peace out ! :D

I updated to SP1, my audio didn't work after I updated to SP1 :( However it works now.(After uninstalling driver then installing it again)

It didn't work when you updated to SP1 is because it was not set to default.. so when you plug in your USB headset it does not become activated.. that's what happened to me.. and 99% what happened to you.
