I don't know if I'd say "great use", but there are several companies that make a living by producing 3rd party Delphi components. My company uses Delphi almost exclusively. In addition, Lazarus is an open-source cross-platform language that uses the same core (object-Pascal) with it's own component set. Between the two of them, I'd say it's definitely alive and well. Realize that if you can code in C++ or VB, you can pick up Delphi easily.

Hi all,
Just want to remind you that the recently released FastScript which is used for Report development has been received with great appreciation. Many find it quick and effective.Check more our FastReport site and see more information about it.

Delphi has the nice advantage of strongly resembling pseudo-code :)

Hi,
I think it is widely used now. But how do other languages, for example C, C# and Java affect its development and use ? Is the future promising for delphi developers ?

Delphi is something of a niche market right now. If you land in a Delphi shop, it's a valuable skill, but if you know how to program in general, Delphi's not hard to pick up. Now that Delphi.NET is available, you have more flexibility, but it seems like C# and VB are still the dominant .NET languages.
