Can't you just use netstat?

No because MSN uses servers, netstat will just give you the Server IP. You will need to initiate a direct connect.

MSNP has such slow transfer rates because it usually proxies file transfers. However, the later protocols support MSNFTP, a p2p file transfer protocol, also used to some degree for sharing emote, winks, ect as msn-objects.

Getting them to accept a connection is the only way to obtain their IP.

That's what I meant (a direct connection). It would be a lot easier to get someone to go to a website (and have PHP log their IP address), than get someone to directly connect. Then again, I suck at social engineering.
