Was wondering if anyone can give some good tweaks for Vista Ultimate? Finally have i installed and running up to speed, seems a good bit faster than XPpro, mostly I'm sure because I dont have many programs. Processes to turn off/on utilities to dl to make things easier/helpful? Thanks as always.
I'm looking for your valuable comments

Turn off System Restore and Previous Versions. This will slow down Vista considerably once you install software/data on your machine.

ReadyBoost is hyped up from what it really is. Don't use this because your computer will slow down from 100x to 1x even with recommended flash drives.
Also, I've found lots o' memory and processor power makes vista great. I have it running on 3GB of ram and a quadcore processor, and it will do almost anything with the blink of an eye :)

I've never actually used ReadyBoost. Like morefood2001 stated, I always figured it would actually slow things down.

I have a readyboost flash drive with usb 2.0 support.
It writes around 15MB/s and reads at 43MB/s. My ram reads at 200MB/s and writes at 150MB/s to my best estimate, so when I plug in my drive, it slows my system down to nothing.
Its Microsoft, what do you expect lol

Don't be too harsh on M$. :) It makes Visual Studio 2008 Express Editions, which I like a lot.

Perhaps the VS 2008 Express Editions are great, but their operating system stinks 90% of the time. The only reliable OS that M$ puts out is Server 2000 and 2003, and thats stretching it!

Their flagship products are: 1) OS, 2) Office. The OS is junk, and they haven't made valuable improvements to Office since Office 97. This doesn't speak well for their track record.
