It's been a while... but somebody asked me to write another Effects tutorial, so I picked halftones, because their fun to mess around with :)

Start by using the paintbucket and set a backround Color. Then create a new layer.

On the new Layer, using your other Color, select the Gradient Tool and use the Foreground to Transparent Option at the top. Then Draw a Diagonal Line from the top Left Side of the Layer to the bottom Right Hand side.

Now Select your Layer with the Faded Gradient, and while holding down Ctrl, click the Layer to Select the gradient outline.

Press Q to select the QuickMask Mode, then go to Filter --> Pixalate --> Color Halftone and set the Following:

Now you should have something that goes from here:

To Here..

Now Press Q once more to Exit Quick Mask Mode... and press Ctrl + Shift + i to Select Inverse.. and press Delete. To have something that looks like this

If you want a Solid Color..then Before you Deselect, just select the Bucket Tool and the Color you want then fill the layer ;)

I can't do this part. When I select the layer, nothing happens.. I don't get the marquee like selection. :(

EDIT: nvm, I was able to do it. :)

You must click to select the layer, then hold down control and click the small square/image on the side of the layer *while holding down control* and you will have the outline.
