Hello, the name is Brandon and I'm an amatuer programmer. I have a year of college, that's all the formal training that I have. Currently getting the money I need to finish off a BA in Computer Science.

As of right now, I'm at a very basic level in the following languages: PHP, SQL, Javascript, C++, C#, and Visual Basic 6.0.

I'm decently proficient when it comes to Java, since I've spent the majority of my four short years programming in the language. I'm mostly here to learn, read some tutorials and ask the annoying amatuer questions (yes, another one :D) however if I see something I can help with or have something to contribute I will definitely do so.

I was thouroghly pleased to find this site.

Now, if you want to anything more personal about, then here is a little bit of info.

I'm 21 years old, 22 in November, currently serving in the US Military (not for programming, regret not doing that though.. shame on me) and I spend my free time in training right now writing VB apps using the very handy VB editor built into Excel (Before that I messing with Javascript)! Man I'm lame. I play lots of games and write lots of meaningless programs!

Very basic me.

Hey Brandon, welcome to CodeCall! My brother's name is also Brandon. What type of programs have you created and how long have you been in the military?

Well, aside for the little ones, not many. Mostly I write small things to solve small problems, my most useful app is basically a color chooser that allows me to store a color and get the hex string for it, I think it took me an hour to write.

My larger projects consist of a text/menu based console DragonBall game I made when during my first Java course back in Highschool, then A Pong applet the next year. Third of Java in highscool I started making a mud engine (minus the networking portion) for personal use, never finished it. I also wrote a Chess applet. JBlocks is probably one of the projects I am most proud of, a tetris clone I wrote in college with a small twist. I made a sister program for it that allows you to design your own 5x5 pieces for the game. I used the same program to make the standard tetris blocks as well as the crappy custom ones I made along with it! Another project that I started with a friend is a database/address book program, I did most of the UI coding for it, my buddy was more experienced with the database coding, that one you can actually check out at (insert website I can't post yet (there is a googlecode site for it, hoipolloi)) you can download some info and view screenshots. It's open source.

Programs of other langauges, none worth mentioning. I did a website (very amatuer) for my Grandmother's car lot in PHP and CSS, that was fun. And of course the current VB project. Tic-Tac-Toe which I'm using the MS Excel VB IDE to do it in, so I'm a bit limited, plus the language is overly simplified. I'm used to GUI programming in Java, and VB... is VB.

Anywho, I'm rambling about nothing so I'm going to stop.

I've been in since 20 MAR 08 :P Still in AIT, just got done with Basic two months ago.
