CodeCall has partnered with TradePub.com to offer you complimentary one-year subscriptions to dozens of leading Tech and IT publications. No coupons, credit cards, special codes, or purchases are necessary. Publications are entirely FREE to those who qualify.

Note: These are real, hard-copy magazines - not emagazines (electronic magazines).

Before posting this free opportunity I subscribed to a magazine myself. You may wonder why and the answer is very simple. I wanted to make sure that the free subscription was actually free. I picked "Dr. Dobbs" and filled out the form. I wasn't asked for a Credit Card or payment information anywhere although the actual form was lengthy (almost a survey of sorts). In about 10-15 minutes I was approved to receive the magazine. With that said I was curious to know why they would do this and how it could benefit them. Here is the answer I received:

Quote

Well the reason is the publishers we work with are looking to boost their readership. The more readers they have reading the magazine, the more they can charge the companies advertising in the magazines.
There are several magazines that may interest you as a programmer:

Do you need to be part of a company to subscribe to these? What if a measly little kid wants one?

I'm not sure. TkTech said he was having problems since he was not part of a company. Put CodeCall as your company if you like.

It may be something we do in the future when we are popular enough but I don't see many people wanting it now (plus we don't have any writers).
