Hey everyone, just giving a shout out to say hi and introduce myself.

A bit about me: I'm a 25 yr old female who just recently got into programming. A complete spontaneous turnaround from what I was previously doing. I have already completed a double major in sociology and psychology 2 years ago. Woke up one morning and decided I couldn't possibly spend the rest of my life listening to other peoples problems. I'd end up /slittingwrists. I think that should have clued in when for the most part I'm a pretty solitary person. I've always loved computers (and games of course ;) ) so I decided to follow what I love.

Back in the day I dabbled with C++, html, and some python. Today I've completed my first 2 yrs in computer programming with one yr left. I'm currently studying C# and more in depth C++ as well as working with SQL server databases. I'd eventually love to get into the gaming industry. I realize there isn't much glamour there once you account for major deadlines, long hours, and poor pay- but nonetheless it's rewarding and I love it.

So, consider me still very new to programming with much to learn. Which is what brings me to these forums. I hope you don't mind my never ending questions and intrigue. I may be a nub but I promise I learn fast ;)

Hope to converse with you all very soon! Have a good one.

That's good to hear. Have you coded any games as of recently?

I'm currently writing one in C++, almost done.

I haven't really had time to code anything as of late. The only things I really have time for are the projects and heavy work load I'm given from my classes :( makes me sad. However, the last game I did work on was sometime january, written in C++. Was a simple fortune telling card game with various spreads, and minimal graphics. Before that I was working on basic BlockDrop (play on tetris name), ping pong, and breakout. I plan to start something a bit more intricate once I get some time on my side now that I have the basic fundamentals pretty much down.

I'm writing an ascii based RPG, basically you go through the levels trying to collect the best gear and treasure while killing bosses and other mobs. I am tentatively calling it "Timeless Citadel", it's almost done just need to touch up on combat and clean up item swapping and leveling up, then I'll release it. That should be within the next couple days.

ah very nice. RPG's ftw. I'm a bit of a WoW addict myself heh.. so ya.. love rpg's.
If you need a tester give me a holler ;)

I'm still trying to decide what to work on next. Since you know my very little background in game programming, any thoughts? :)

Mmm... Space Invaders or Centipede are pretty good ones to make. Yeah I played WoW for about a year and a half, had to give it up though because it took too much of my time. I was a 70 Warrior.

But yeah if you want to give it a test that be cool, as a of right not I have a couple of nasty bugs that will crash it once in a while, so I'll probably message you tomorrow or something if you're still interested.

Hey giuliel, welcome to CodeCall! Psychology always interested me. You could do research instead of listening to peoples problems which was always where my interest was. Glad to have you here, if you need any help just let us know!
