I started with asp and front page way back at the beginning, although today I can't recall one line of asp, so it isn't all that useful :P

I started when I was .. hmm .. 14 (2001-2002), I think it must have been when I created a profile on a community where you could fill profile of the text, with html codes. I learned it just as slowly, from some so-called help pages, community linked to. I started using, just real standard profile of the text, later I started to use the frontpage. Now im using MacroMedia and Photoshop to my tables.

I don't know why everyone dislikes Dreamweaver. I used that as my IDE for several years. It is very powerful.

I started in Frontpage, and man, what a mistake that was. I now use eclipse.

I don't mind Dream weaver in code view, but it has a tendency to screw up my hand written code.

Frontpage was awful when I tried it. I never really understood how to use it.

Is eclipse good for making web pages? Does it support PHP, and other things like that?

Frontpage was wonderful for webpages, and I loved how it edited files directly on the server without ftp, it was like a local file connection. The problem with it which forced me to move is it sucks completely at making code thats readable by a human, thus is far from xhtml compliant.

Eclipse is great for php development. I will be moving to it when I get zend studio installed. I currently use PHPDesigner 2008 which works the same way.

They both allow for live debugging of code so you see errors before running it. They also have a preview so you can see your website load on your local computer.

The thing eclipse has is easy svn integration and benchmarks on the code so you can see how efficient your code is.

WYSIWYG == static_cast<web>VB

The WYSIWYG is merely a single piece of functionality. Dreamweaver does have a great text editor with intellisense and tab completion on html elements. Not to mention remote server integration, and a plethora of other useful features.
