I started writing html 1999. I'm not sure where I learned or what software I used, but my first website was with geocities.

I now use Zend Studio for Eclipse for development.

What's wrong with Dream Weaver? It makes some really hard things to do quite simple. :)

I started learning HTML in 1995, learning by reading other web pages sources and by then there were no other option than using a common text editor to write in. if you ran emacs, you could have some syntax highlighting at least.

Nowadays I mostly use a plain text editor too, but preferably one with some skills. right now phpDesigner 2008.

I started writing html in 2001 with geocities, but I used frontpage a lot, and I also was taking a class that forced me to learn it. I ended up using frontpage until about 2006 when I switched over to php based websites. I now use phpdesigner as a primary development environment, and I'm considering a switch to eclipse in the near future.
