Anyone have any experience with using this? I'm starting to try it out since Adobe gives the Flex builder software out for free to students.

Anyone create any AIR apps for the desktop either?

Seems pretty easy to use so far, but I'm partially confused on what AIR would be good for that normal programming languages would not. Is it pretty much just for synchronizing data from the persons computer offline to the server online?

Flex developers are really sought after. Having Flex skills definitely gives you an advantage over other candidates. I work for a web-based open source software company and we're always looking for talented UI developers with Flex and AJAX experience.

How are they giving it out to students? I'm a prospective grad student (applying to schools) and taking community college courses online---does that count?? :D
