What is the best way to market software ?

I have managed to get my RadioTelephone Tutor google ratings somewhat good.

I make a few sales on my website. But I seem to do better on ebay believe it or not.

I have just used robosoft to submit to a lot of shareware sites. Don't know if it will help much .

What is your experience in selling your software ?

Submitting to shareware sites is the #1 thing that I always completed. These give free back-links to your software which will improve your SEO.

Next try to buy or trade links with similar sites to further enhance your SEO (use good anchor text).

Offer an affiliate program and try to get popular websites to subscribe to that affiliate program.

You can also offer a free version of your software with limited features. Have it advertise the professional version. Free versions of software always get twice as many downloads although you may not want to use this option (people may just use your freeware version and never buy).

Offer an incentive! When the user first opens your software say they have "5 more uses to buy the product with a 10% discount." Of course, change the numbers and wordings to whatever you like but this will cause the "impulse" buys to act faster resulting in more net sales.

Answer all support requests in a timely matter. This will cause people to talk about how good of support you offer resulting in more branding.

Leave Flyers, business cards and more in local shops around your area.

Use advertisement services such as google adsense to get top ranking results for keywords.

These are just some quick ideas off the top of my head. Hope they help.

I would optimize your software website for search engines, and once you get enough traffic, you should make more sales.

I think Tradestation is the best software among all others. It provides many analysis tools that doesn't exist in any other easy to use software, there you will find backtesting facilities that you can use to test your idea so that you trade only those ideas which you have already tested and it gives you confidence in your idea.

I usually submit software by myself to many popular listing sites. It works well. The total download is about 1 million in a year. But the sales is not good. So I switched to freeware with advertising. I used younexus.com solution. So far so good. You can also read bionicoder.wordpress.com to see other ways for monetizing freeware.

You may try Xlinksoft video converter, my friends recommend it to me, it is not free, but it is easy to use and works pretty well for me, I think it well worth the money.

well, the ideal way to market a sogftware is by submitting it to different software directories, blog about it, tell people about it in relevant forums, unlike Kenneths here, the post should be relevant and should add some value to the thread!
